@ THE MOVIES: GO*

Watched again last night and remembered just how good it is. John August’s first feature screenplay (for which he was also the 2nd Unit Director on) and Doug Liman’s first film directed post-Swingers.

Besides having one of the best soundtracks of the late 90’s - one that’s a pitch-perfect mix of the alterna-pop of the moment as well as what the rave scene was on - it has a fun cast (Sarah Polley, pre-TomKat Katie Holmes, Timothy Olyphant, Jane Krakowski, Scott Wolf, Jay Mohr, Taye Diggs, Brecken Meyer, etc), a great structure (three first act-second act segments, with a full denoument for all at the end), and an incredible screenplay. The Vegas scenes make me miss home - one of my friend’s mom used to strip at the Crazy Horse Too - and the idea/tagline that “life begins at 3AM” makes me nostalgic for when I had the energy to pull that shit.

Solid. You can download the spec script here.
